Copying movies

Hi,

My Sony camera comes without a video processing software (like Vegas to say).
With Picture Motion Browser you can only copy AVCHD files, make lower quality MPEG or AVI, or make HD DVD and Data DVD.

I discovered when making data DVD you can convert from AVCHD to AVI (WMV 9) at the same quality.

The advantage of doing this is that AVI is recognised by all players.
Second it seems that WMV is smaller than the AVCHD file.

The bad thing is that you can do this only using a DVD drive on a DVD disk.

The solution:
- Use the following software: Virtual CD
- And use the Virtual Burner facility of it.
- Then from PMB choose Data Disk creation and use the specific Virtual DVD.

Pros:

  • Easy
  • Cheap (it is only 40$)
  • Quick
  • Good for storage of raw data in a standard format.
Cons:
  • A little difficult to find out all the clicks you have to make in Virtual CD
  • It isn't a video editing software
